Half a mile of country road, and then the birds
Rocklands sits in the hills above Montego Bay Harbour. The last stretch is narrow, steep, winding and sometimes bumpy. Consider it part of the experience: rare things usually ask a little extra effort.
Getting here
We do not provide transport and we do not recommend one particular company. Your hotel concierge or host can usually arrange a suitable taxi or private driver, and services such as JUTA and Uber also operate in the area.
Agree the fare before you set off
Confirm the total price with your driver, including all fees and charges, and ask for one to one-and-a-half hours of waiting time so you can enjoy the sanctuary without feeling rushed. If you are travelling from farther away, settle pickup and return arrangements in advance.
By taxi or private driver
The most common way to arrive. Ask your hotel concierge or accommodation host to arrange a driver who knows the area.
Waiting time
Ask your driver to include one to one-and-a-half hours of waiting time. Confirm the waiting charge along with the fare before you set off.
Driving yourself
Use a vehicle with reasonable clearance. The final half mile is narrow, steep, winding and sometimes bumpy — it is a Jamaican country road.
Cruise passengers
Rocklands is a short drive from the Montego Bay pier. Allow around two and a half hours in total for travel and the visit.
